Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Breakfast is Taking on a New Look

Due to coronavirus health concerns, Meharry Medical College recently announced the closing of the Cal Turner Family Center where the March 31 Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Breakfast was to take place.   We are currently reviewing other opportunities to present the breakfast program in a manner that keeps everyone safe from crowds and is sensitive to CDC suggestions.

Decisions like this are never easy, but as an organization dedicated to the health of our community, MWCHC is determined to do our part to ensure the well-being and safety of all middle Tennesseans. If you were or were not planning on attending our benefit,  please contribute to the work MWCHC is doing throughout the region by donating today. Your support is needed now more so than ever before.

Stay tuned for further information about this event.

Join Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center (MWCHC) as we host a benefit breakfast honoring the life of Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr., a pioneer in Nashville medicine. The purpose of this gathering is to recognize the life of Dr. Walker, as this center bears his name. Dr. Walker was one of the first African Americans voted into the Nashville Academy of Medicine and was on the Board of Hospital Commissioners of Nashville General Hospital. He founded Meharry Neighborhood Health Center in 1968, which was later renamed Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center.

The Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Breakfast will take place in The Cal Turner Family Center at Meharry Medical College and will feature an impactful discussion with panelist Judge Sheila Calloway, Dr. Jeanette Norden and Dr. Robin Williams facilitated by Phyliss Hildreth.

There is no fee for the breakfast; however, donations are encouraged and will allow us to continue to provide medical, dental, behavioral and health education services to middle Tennesseans who otherwise may go without care. You can make a donation by clicking the link below  or during the registration process. To secure multiple tickets, select "Add Attendee" on the registration form. If you can't make the event, please consider making a donation to make a donation.
